WHO ARE YOU?

Tittle:     WHO ARE YOU?

Text:    JOB 1:1

-The question “who are you?” at times may not be an easy question to answer.

-The question may require more information from a person beyond his or her name.
Job is described as:

-A Blameless man – free from blame

-An Upright man – honest, moral, or just

-One who Feared God – one who utter reverence / respect before God

-One who Shunned evil – avoid deliberately / keep away from evil

-If JOB was described by God with such godly qualities, what about you and me?

-In other words, lets allow these godly qualities acquired by Job to challenge us and cause us to reevaluate our lives in order to begin branding our descriptions positively by observing these 2 things carefully.

1. LIVE AN UPRIGHT LIFE

  • We will remain blameless at all times
  • We will not compromise our faith in God
  • Our moral standard will be evident and real
  • We will live and practice a straight forward Christian life
  • We will be people after God’s heart and obedient  – 1SAMUEL13:13-14
  • Upright people are the people who will be given the kingdom
  • It will make God describe “who we are” openly (even to the devil –  JOB 1:8)

2. HAVE THE FEAR OF GOD IN YOU

  • It is an individual responsibility to cultivate the fear of God
  • Having the fear of God enables one to offer complete worship unto God in all circumstances – Daniel, Paul & Silas
  • It helps a person to avoid and reject sin with confidence – Joseph
  • It gives a person courage to repent and turn away from sinful life
  • It will make a believer to be full of the Spirit and wisdom; but also  the community will trust you with responsibilities – ACTS 6:1-4
  • Don’t give sensitive responsibilities to people who have no wisdom

• Conclusion

  • Remember this man was named JOB, yet God could describe him beyond his normal name
  • Yes we all have names, BUT what and how do you think God describes you …
  • Yes you’re the father/mother of the family, BUT how do your family members describes you …
  • What about in the Office; what about at Church, and  WHO ARE YOU to the Community at large?
  • Remember what counts first is your character, behavior, attitude and NOT the other way – JOB 1: 2-3
